The Department of Immunobiology invites applicants to apply for the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. We are seeking investigators whose research program aligns with a department working to understand how the immune system and/or microbes influence the continuum of healthy and diseased states across the lifespan. We will consider individuals studying areas of microbial biology (viruses, bacteria, parasites, fungi), immunology (normal & aberrant function of the immune system, microbial & cancer immune defense, and related topics), and those whose programs span these disciplines. Applicants combining the above with innovative techniques/methodologies (e.g., molecular engineering), relevant cancer biology, and/or those with relevant translational elements to their program are encouraged to apply. We are looking for collegial & collaborative-minded colleagues. The candidate will be expected to participate in medical and/or graduate teaching & service at the departmental, college, and university levels. Teaching loads vary but are not expected to exceed 30 contact hours per year for research-intensive faculty.
Senior & mid-career applicants will be expected to be leaders in their areas, with innovative programs & robust extramural funding.
Junior applicants will be expected to establish new, cutting-edge programs & with the help of mentoring programs, secure extramural funding.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish or continue a successful, extramurally funded research program that will advance knowledge in the broad areas of immunobiology, as defined above.
- Develop and sustain productive interactions with biomedical investigators in the department, the College of Medicine-Tucson, and the University of Arizona.
- Promote and strengthen interdisciplinary training by contributing to graduate (M.Sc./Ph.D.) and/or medical (M.D.) education.
- Provide institutional service in the Department of Immunobiology.
- Additional duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD and/or MD or equivalent degree.
- Peer-reviewed publications in nationally recognized journals and expertise in any field related to immunology, microbiology, parasitology, infectious diseases, and cancer biology.
- For Associate level or above, active funding in the above.
