Job Summary:
The Electron Microscopy Core Facility at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a fee-for-service core that provides biological transmission electron microscopy services to a wide range of health-related disciplines, from basic research to translational medicine. The core facility professional will assist the core director with sample preparation and instrument operation. Responsibilities include reagent preparation; biological sample processing and plastic embedding; thick and thin sectioning; negative staining; operation of a 120 kV transmission electron microscope; maintaining detailed records of all processed specimens; and managing online scheduling, project tracking, and billing through the iLab system.
Key Responsibilities:
Sample preparation for transmission electron microscopy (TEM); fixation, resin embedding, ultrathin sectioning, post staining, immunogold labeling and negative staining. Operation of the TEM. Preparation of solutions and chemicals. User training and support. Troubleshooting and optimizing laboratory protocols and instrumentation. Responsible for a clean and organized laboratory.
Work Location:
Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.
