Description
Laboratory Research Technician IV
GSPH-Human Genetics - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (26001281)
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Research Technician to join our growing team. This position combines hands-on experimental work with key lab management responsibilities, making it well-suited for someone who thrives in a dynamic, early-stage lab environment. The technician will play a central role in maintaining our zebrafish colony and executing molecular and cell biology experiments, while also contributing to lab infrastructure and training as the team expands.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Breeding, maintaining, and genotyping zebrafish lines (transgenic and mutant strains); Assisting in the generation of new transgenic and mutant lines; Performing molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and molecular cloning; Acquiring and processing images from live and fixed zebrafish samples using confocal microscopy; Managing lab inventory, reagent ordering, and equipment and chemical logs; Maintaining detailed and accurate experimental records; Assisting in training new lab members on protocols and equipment.
The Greenspan Laboratory studies the cellular and molecular mechanisms of cutaneous wound healing using adult zebrafish (Danio rerio) as a model system. Our research focuses on how immune and vascular cells interact during tissue repair and how these processes are disrupted in aging and metabolic disease. We use live and fixed high-resolution confocal imaging, in situ hybridization, RNA sequencing, and transgenic/mutant zebrafish approaches to identify regulators of vascular regrowth after injury.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
