Job Summary:

The Regional Service Manager (RSM) leads and manages a team of field service engineers to achieve world-class technical service for NanoString's customers. This manager will perform routine travel within the region to work with the engineers and will routinely interface with internal and external customers, senior management and peers to manage workload. In support of the NanoString objectives, the person in this role must exhibit drive, passion, and a competitive spirit to help maximize our commercial success. They must be a team player with customer relationship building skills, who is hard working, smart, and loves to win.

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for the timely and effective delivery of customer site service in the given region for all portfolio products
  • Ensures compliance with company and regulatory policy
  • Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction is maintained
  • Responsible for in-field resource utilization
  • Works with partners in Technical Support and Support Operations to plan and implement product training
  • Evaluates performance, writes reviews, and provides feedback to direct reports on an on-going basis
  • Active in recruiting and retaining talent
  • Acts as customer advocate in resolving field support related issues
  • Assist with the NanoString Quality process improvement initiatives
  • Time management and productivity efficiency with service call management and handling
  • The position has a high-impact contribution to the company's success by providing industry leading service to our customer base

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a FSE or Service Manager in a related field
  • Professional with strong technical acumen - analytical with the ability to understand complex system operation and troubleshooting
  • Proficiency with test equipment used in field service support
  • Strong communication skills used to build and nurture internal and external customer relationships
  • Product and associated laboratory process knowledge
  • Located in the Western US close to a major airport
  • Up to 50% travel required with overnight stays on short notice
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet fleet eligibility requirements

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with fluorescence microscopy and robotic systems
  • General knowledge of genetic analysis techniques (DNA microarrays, gene expression analysis, NGS/WGS, and quantitative PCR)
  • Experience working in a QSR certified organization
  • Familiarity with standard KPIs and Metrics for a field service organization
