Description

The Center for Innate Immunity and Inflammation (CIII), the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology, and The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center seek outstanding scientists in innate immunology, with an emphasis on immuno-oncology.

Applicants studying antigen presentation or inflammation within the tumor microenvironment to improve cancer treatment outcomes are encouraged to apply. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty opportunity at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level.

Position Responsibilities

• Design and conduct innovative research studies in innate immunity and immuno-oncology.
• Develop competitive grant proposals and obtain and maintain extramural funding, including NIH R01 or equivalent support.
• Publish in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
• Mentor junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and initiatives.

Research Environment

The successful candidate will join a collaborative research community and receive a competitive start-up package tailored to their research needs and experience. Faculty have access to the 305,000-square-foot Pelotonia Research Center and shared resources that include:

• Flow cytometry, imaging, proteomics, genomics, and single-cell sequencing.
• High-throughput screening and preclinical models.
• Advanced microscopy, cell sorting, and molecular biology equipment.
• Clinical specimens, translational research platforms, and bioinformatics support.

Department and Institution

The Department of Surgery is home to multiple R01-funded investigators and several training grants. The Division of Surgical Oncology provides leading clinical cancer care, trains medical students, residents, and fellows, and conducts internationally recognized clinical and basic research.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D., M.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent terminal degree in an applicable field.
• Postdoctoral research experience.
• Established research productivity in innate immunology, with an emphasis on immuno-oncology.
• A strong peer-reviewed publication record and excellent communication skills.
• Qualifications appropriate for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level.
