Experienced Dermatology Physician Assistant (PA-C)
Location: Upper East Side, Manhattan
Position: Full-time, in person
Schedule: Five clinical days per week, generally 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; occasional Saturdays may be required with advance notice
Base Salary: $145,000–$185,000 annually, plus productivity incentive compensation

The Physician Assistant will work directly with Dr. Orit Markowitz, OptiSkin’s Founder and Medical Director. Dr. Markowitz is a board-certified dermatologist and skin-cancer specialist who previously served for 13 years as Director of Pigmented Lesions and Skin Cancer at Mount Sinai. She is recognized for her work in early skin-cancer detection and the use of advanced noninvasive technologies, including reflectance confocal microscopy, OCT and LC-OCT.
This position is best suited for an experienced dermatology PA with strong general and medical dermatology skills who is comfortable managing a full clinical schedule. Exposure to cosmetic dermatology is preferred, although cosmetic responsibilities will be based on the candidate’s training, experience and demonstrated proficiency.
Responsibilities
Obtain problem-focused and comprehensive medical histories
Perform appropriate skin examinations and evaluate a broad range of dermatologic conditions
Develop and carry out evidence-based treatment plans within the PA’s scope of practice
Independently manage routine general and medical dermatology patients, with physician collaboration available for complex or concerning findings
Diagnose and treat conditions including acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, infections, hair and nail disorders, and benign and suspicious skin lesions
Prescribe appropriate medications and provide necessary monitoring and follow-up
Perform dermatologic procedures, including biopsies, cryotherapy and other office-based treatments consistent with the PA’s training and demonstrated competency
Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic testing
Review laboratory, pathology and imaging results and communicate findings and treatment recommendations to patients
Provide thorough patient education regarding diagnoses, medications, procedures and follow-up care
Complete accurate, timely and clinically appropriate documentation
Participate in cosmetic consultations and perform cosmetic treatments based on prior experience, training and demonstrated proficiency
Answer pre-treatment and post-treatment questions and provide clear aftercare instructions
Follow all clinical protocols and maintain patient safety at all times
Collaborate effectively with Dr. Markowitz and the practice’s clinical and administrative teams
Deliver a consistently professional, attentive and high-quality patient experience
Job Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of direct, full-time clinical experience as a Physician Assistant in an outpatient dermatology setting required; 5 or more years preferred
Strong proficiency in general and medical dermatology, including evaluating, diagnosing, treating and educating patients across a broad range of dermatologic conditions
Current NCCPA certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C)
Active, unrestricted New York State Physician Assistant license
Current DEA registration and authorization to prescribe in New York, or eligibility to obtain them before the start date
Demonstrated competency performing dermatologic procedures, including biopsies, cryotherapy and other routine office-based treatments
Ability to recognize suspicious lesions, formulate appropriate differential diagnoses and determine when physician consultation or escalation is necessary
Prior hands-on exposure to cosmetic dermatology, lasers, energy-based devices and/or injectable treatments strongly preferred
Ability to manage a busy clinical schedule efficiently while maintaining accurate and timely documentation
Excellent clinical judgment, communication and patient-education skills
Collaborative, professional and respectful approach to working with physicians, medical assistants and administrative staff
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and follow-through
Commitment to patient safety, evidence-based care and established clinical protocols
Availability to work five clinical days per week, with occasional Saturdays scheduled with advance notice
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Compensation
The base salary range for this position is $145,000–$185,000 annually. The actual base salary will be determined based on directly relevant dermatology experience, clinical proficiency, procedural capabilities and cosmetic experience.
Additional collections-based productivity incentive compensation is available after the established productivity threshold is achieved.
